What's the Story?
The trucks from the beloved Construction Site series series are back with a new task to accomplish: CONSTRUCTION SITE MISSION; DEMOLITION! It's time to knock down an old building -- first with a wrecking ball on a crane truck -- "KA-BOOM!--and then with Excavator --SMASH!Everybody on the male and female crew plays a part, including Little Skid Steer, who uses her breaker bit to shatter the remaining rubble left by the wrecking ball. "Now the crew worked as a team,/ to get the site all clear and clean." The debris is separated and recycled: "Now everything gets sifted through/ to be reused for something new." Finally it's time for the trucks to get some rest. "They'll dream about tomorrow, too/ the dirt and noise, the jobs they'll do, of friends and work and all that's right ... / Another day./ Now,goodnight."
Is It Any Good?
This welcome addition to the Construction Site series is all about destruction rather than construction, but it shows the same purposeful, detailed teamwork and cheerful camaraderie. With catchy rhymes and lots of fun action sounds --smash,mash,bash,kaboom, etc.-- it's a great read-aloud. And its go-to-sleep-after-a hard-day's-work ending makes it a good choice for bedtime reading.
