Plot follows usual comic book theme of good versus evil and what defines heroism, including sacrifice, helping those in need, standing up for what's right even in the face of adversity. Both story and gameplay emphasize the importance of friendship and teamwork, with characters not only working together on the battlefield, but building personal bonds between missions.

The threat Lilith represents brings together heroes from every corner of the Marvel Universe. They have different natures and personalities and are shown to be (relatively) human and imperfect. But they're all shown to be heroes at their core, with strong moral codes and strength of character.

Players are able to create their own custom Hunter character to represent themselves. The roster of heroes covers a wide range of diversity, with characters of different genders, ethnicities, ages, beliefs, and personalities. Players are encouraged to get to know the characters on a deeper level, recognizing any differences, accepting characters for who they are beyond their powers.

Combines elements of turn-based strategy, role-playing, and deck-building games together into a unique experience that feels both familiar and yet completely new. Basic mechanics take some practice to get used to, and players also need to focus on character development in between missions.

Violence is a large focus, with players constantly fighting against supernatural monsters, Hydra soldiers, even possessed heroes and villains. Plenty of over-the-top, comic book-style action. The game's story has some darker supernatural and light horror elements as well. While violence is not overly graphic, there's occasionally some blood shown on-screen.

Players can choose which costumes the characters wear, some of which can be a little revealing. The characters also have bathing suit options for when they socialize together at certain locations.
