Way too much for 11 year old

We normally watch '13' stuff but this was way too much for 11yo. Closeups of a bloated corpse, wounds etc etc . Is it good? No idea. Only got 1/3 of the way through before we had to turn it off, and that's a rare occurrence. Seems more of a psychodrama adults would enjoy more anyway.

Definitely not for kids

This movie is brilliant. But not geared towards children. Better for a kid aged over 15-16. Contains scenes of a dead body, blood and an extremely intense plane crash scene. The movie also does not end happily. So ultimately a real terk jerker. I loved it, but it's hard to watch.

Excellent film about the human spirit

Watched with my 12 and 14 year old. Ok for mature 12 year olds, but otherwise I say 13+. I'd forgotten how gruesome and realistic a couple scenes are, which evokes emotion and add to why it's such a great movie, but may not be appropriate for sensitive tweens and younger. Loved seeing it again! Sparked some good family conversations about the human spirit and survival. Both of my kids loved it!

Hopefull

I watched Castaway with my 10-year-old son and we were both completely engaged. I had no squirmish moments where I thought that he should leave the room and my son most enjoyed the survival scenes on the island. However, the movie could easily be a FedEx commercial. Parts of the movie also seemed completely contrived, such as the dialogue the main character, Chuck, has with his friend after he is rescued. Chuck talks about his lack of control on the island, how he could not even succeed at suicide and all he could do is keep "breathing". (Reminiscent of the dialogue Tom Hanks has with a friend in Sleepless in Seattle where he talks about how after his wife died "all he could do is breath in and out.") In Castaway, Chuck also talks about how "you never know what the tide is going to bring in." (Reminiscent of the famous Forest Gump line "life is like a box of chocolates . . .") Nonetheless, the last scene where Chuck is at a crossroad not knowing which way to go next, while contrived, was a positive and hopeful ending. I am not sure that my son got all the subtleties of this last scene but he understood that it was a happy ending.

WILSON!

My second favorite movie Tom Hanks has acted in. Very powerful and just an all around awesome movie that teaches kids (and adults) to never give up on your loved ones, and do whatever it takes to be with them. 5 stars forever.

NOT FOR KIDS.

Definitely not for kids This movie is brilliant. But not geared towards children. Better for a kid aged over 15-16. Contains scenes of a dead body, blood and an extremely intense plane crash scene. The movie also does not end happily. So ultimately a real terk jerker. I loved it, but it's hard to watch. When watching this film there are many meanings of life messages that we can make our life motivation. When I first watched this film, honestly I was like a spell cast by Tom Hanks' acting! He deserves to be the best actor in Hollywood. So What We Can Learn Of Cast Away Movie? In the end, the core message of Cast Away focuses on the goodness of being alone and the strength of the human spirit. Being alone doesn't necessarily mean being lonely. It is actually in solitude that man learns to be strong, where he learns to depend on his own strength and reflect on his weaknesses.

Tom hanks Oscar nod was worth it.

Tom hanks does a Oscar nominated performance in this film. This film is very intense best for only the mature viewers. Although it does have some happy moments like when chick discovers WILSON.

if you love survival movies, This is for you!

这部电影很好。这是可怕的时候plane is crashing, and it gets sad at times. For me, I thought it was a little slow and boring. If you love survival movies though, this is a great movie to watch!
