The kids in the movie also have a little bit of a bad attitude and are glued to their devices. I also thought the jokes about the push-up bra and Spanx were unnecessary and sending the wrong message to girls. They also did a pretty poor job of explaining the backstory of the fairy "motherland" - I think that went over my kids' heads. Jane Curtin is totally wasted in what couldve been a better role as the head godmother. All in all, this movie was fine but could've been so much better and doesn't have the charm and wit of something like Enchanted. I'm glad I didn't pay to see it in a theater, but it was okay for movie night and my girls got some laughs from some of the physical comedy and a few funny bits with magical animals etc.

That is the context when two men holding a small child express who their true love is which is their child. Some reviews took issue with this and felt it challenged their views on how people share their love. The camera is on them for all of three seconds and outside of the assumption the audience would make that the two men are a couple, there is absolutely no other discussion or indication of their sexuality. As for the cartoon boy fairy in a dress at the end, I wouldn’t have noticed had someone not pointed it out in a previous review. Again, nothing was said or even heavily implied by the image of an impish character with short black hair wearing a dress. I couldn’t even say for sure it was a boy. And are there really any rules about what a potential fairy godfather would look like??? It’s a fairy! I appreciated a Disney film that wasn’t full of peril and violence that my family is sensitive to. This film reminded me of Elf in its comical portrayal of an innocent child like character interacting with the harsh realities of the real world while trying to maintain their sense of hope and good in people. For that reason alone, it’s a worth while film for families.
