Intimidating character with a slightly scary voice. Joker won’t scare kids, but some of the grotesque designs in his headquarters might. A massive fiery eyeball blasts lava everywhere. Someone is turned into a fish, then a frog, then a fishfrog. Snakes wearing clown makeup appear at the end of the movie, it’s not scary and is put into a humorous context. ROMANCE A couple of long looks between characters. A character rips off his pants, exposing green underwear underneath. At least three characters are seen without pants, but nothing is exposed and they are all male. Batman makes a couple of jokes to attractive women about being buff. A joke about the gay subtext in Batman: BATMAN: He’s not my child. COMMISSIONER GORDON: It’s weirder if he isn’t. BATMAN: WE’RE NOT IN A RELATIONSHIP! LANGUAGE A couple rude jokes (the aforementioned characters rip off their pants, Robin begins singing about the pants-ripping). One joke about Robin’s nickname that will go over kid’s heads: ROBIN: I’m Richard Grayson, but the kids in the orphanage call me Dick. BATMAN: Well, kids can be cruel. DRINKING A couple of drinks at a party, however they look like water. CONSUMERISM Too much. Everything is made of Lego, and there are lots of jokes about Lego that are vaguely advertising-ish. Additionally, in the last few scenes, the movie just diverges into flat-out advertisement, featuring many references to Godzilla, King Kong, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, Doctor Who, and the Matrix to the point where I began wondering if this should be called The Lego Batman Godzilla King Kong Harry Potter Lord of the Rings Matrix Jurassic Park Doctor Who Movie. DIVERSE REPRESENTATIONS Two-Face and Catwoman are Black and played by Black actors, Barbara and Jim Gordon are Latino and played by Latino actors. Many diverse characters in the background. EDUCATIONAL VALUE Not really educational, but good lessons about being able to change and friendship. POSITIVE ROLE MODELS Barbara, Dick, and Alfred are positive role models, and they teach Batman to be one too. The Joker, despite being a bad guy, still has a vulnerable side and is actually willing to teach Batman things. POSITIVE MESSAGES Friends are going to help you, never let the people you live down. No matter who you are, you can save to world. Be nice and work out and you can be Batman. NOT SO POSITIVE MESSAGES BUY LEGO. LEGO GOOOOOD. Overall, this is an excellent movie. I recommend you watch it and I hoped this review helped. Before I leave, I just want to say this… NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA BABYYODAREGIME OUT!
