The main family however shows that it is wrong. In one episode Caroline contemplates cutting off her leg after she gets an infection in her leg that causes her so much pain she can barely stand and makes her frequently pass out alone in her house (Charles was on a trip with the girls so no one knew that she needed a doctor ) She is even seen holding a knife. Nels Olsen (a married man) goes on a trip and begins having flirtations with a woman and a boarding house. He gives her an expensive present. He dances with her and eventually they kiss. He gets caught by Charles. The relationship doesn’t get any more physical than a couple of kisses but still inappropriate for a married man. He and Mrs Olsen get back together but he never tells her he nearly had an affair. (It May be implied that he did but I’m not sure)
