And the older actors did not resemble the younger ones, making this transition a bit jarring. But I was moved to tears in each episode, and found this well worth watching. It would provide good background for older teenagers, including those who self-identify as gay, to help them gain perspective on how they are now standing on the shoulders of those who have come before. Some violence, sex, and drugs, true—but not to show any would have been unrealistic. And this is an important visual document for the gay community in the U.S., especially as their struggle continues.
